Services

The Services Division of the Department of Innovation and Technology focuses on internal technology-related services for the employees of the City of South Bend.  Daily general operations and user experience fall under this division.  We are responsible for vendor management, assisting in the technology planning for new projects and buildings, security through rights management and desktop patching, coordination of solution deployment, and supporting specialized public safety-related programs and reporting.  We continually work to improve, simplify, and streamline processes and end-user experience (Help Desk, print management, Onboarding, etc.).  Services also helps with procurement of new services and solutions, supports and allocates the annual budget, and oversees the centralized leasing of the technology refreshes projects.

Applications

The Division of Applications oversees architecting, implementing, configuring, integrating, and supporting all software applications and platforms. This includes the employee intranet, the 311 Service Portal, our CRM solution, GIS mapping, and many applications specialized for departments and divisions.

Civic Innovation

The Division of Civic Innovation works with City and community partners to improve residents’ access to technology and digital literacy. The division connects residents and groups with the technology resources they need to succeed by leveraging connections both internal and external connections.

Data & Performance

The Data & Performance unit acts as liaisons between City departments and the rest of the Department of Innovation and Technology team and provides additional resources to City departments for selected projects. Business Analytics strives to empower City departments by supporting the use of technology and data in order to promote a culture of continuous improvement. Business Analytics team members provide services including business needs assessments, process mapping and improvement, performance management, data and technology training, data analytics, and project management.

Infrastructure

The Infrastructure Division oversees the Network Infrastructure within the City of South Bend, which is comprised of the hardware, software and security resources of an entire network. The infrastructure team plans new deployments, maintains all technology infrastructure inclusive of servers, network devices, wireless network devices, cloud environments, data center, and security; ensuring availability, capacity, and continuity.
