The Department of Public Works builds the foundation for a thriving city by providing essential services that enhance the community’s quality of life. Public Works erects and maintains street and traffic signs, cleans and repairs streets, maintains sewers and water mains, and administers City refuse collection. We also oversee the design and construction of public buildings, streets, sewers, and other improvements.

Paving Map
The City of South Bend Paving Map is a resource for residents and businesses on paving project occurring throughout the city. The interactive map provides information on the estimated start and end dates for a particular stretch of street and includes roads being paved by City crews as well as those by private contractors.
