October 19, 2023 — The City of South Bend Department of Public Works announces the following traffic alerts beginning Monday, October 23, weather permitting:
Lafayette Boulevard
Also starting Monday, October 23, the southbound lane of Lafayette Boulevard from Marion to Madison streets will be closed for sewer connection work. Southbound traffic will detour west on Marion Street, south on William Street, then east on Madison Street before rejoining Lafayette Boulevard. Restrictions will be in place throughout the duration of the project, which has an estimated completion date of Friday, October 27, weather permitting.
Michigan Street
Beginning Monday, October 23, Michigan Street from Ireland Road to the Chippewa Avenue roundabout will be milled and resurfaced. The street will remain open to traffic; however, motorists should expect major delays and use an alternate route if possible. The anticipated completion date is end of day Friday, October 27, weather permitting.
