Traffic Restrictions at Western — Chapin Intersection for Sewer Work

March 25, 2025 — Starting Wednesday, March 26, traffic restrictions and lane closures will be in effect at the intersection of Western Avenue and Chapin Street due to an emergency sewer repair. Work will take place in the center and southern portions of the intersection. As a result, traffic from all directions will be impacted.

Motorists should plan for detours and allow extra time.

Traffic Changes

  • Northbound Chapin Street: Traffic will be restricted to eastbound Western Avenue only. Drivers will detour east on Western Avenue, north on Main Street and west on Washington Street.
  • Southbound Chapin Street: Traffic will be restricted to westbound Western Avenue only. Drivers will detour west on Western Avenue, south on Olive Street and east on Sample Street.
  • Westbound Western Avenue: Traffic will be able to continue west through the intersection and turn north onto Chapin Street. Left turns onto Chapin Street will be prohibited.
  • Eastbound Western Avenue: Traffic will be restricted to southbound Chapin Street only. Drivers will not be able to proceed straight through the intersection or turn north onto Chapin Street. Drivers will detour south on Chapin Street, east on Sample Street and north on Main Street.

The intersection is anticipated to fully reopen by Friday, April 11, weather permitting.
