Electric Vehicle Basics

  • Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) or All-Electric Vehicles are vehicles powered purely by electric motors and a battery that must be plugged in to recharge. They typically have driving ranges between 150-400 miles.
  • Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) are powered by both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. These vehicles can be driven in electric or gas-powered modes.
