Venues Parks & Arts and local community partners will host a ribbon-cutting for the newly-renovated Kelly Park on Thursday, September 13 at 6 p.m. located at 750 Howard St. The Kelly Park project was led and organized by students from the University of Notre Dame Robinson Community Learning Center as well as Northeast Neighborhood Council members, Lu Ella Webster and Beth Sanford. The renovation of the park was made possible through sponsorship from a multitude of community partners.
“We’re extremely proud of the way this neighborhood pulled together to vision, resource, and create a new Kelly Park. This partnership has served and will continue to serve the community well, especially in that this is a model for future park advocates,” said executive director of VPA, Aaron Perri.
As a part of My South Bend Parks & Trails, the renovations at Kelly Park are an instance of private-public partnerships that VPA hopes to implement in parks going forward.
