Today, the City of South Bend opened the application for the fifth year of the South Bend Alive Grant Program to award grant funding to South Bend organizations that work to reduce incidents of violence in the community through initiatives that positively impact young people.

“We must work together as a community to create opportunities, empower our youth, and reduce gun violence in our city,” said Mayor James Mueller. “This program will continue to uplift community partners who positively impact the lives of our young residents.”

The Alive Grant Program, managed by the Office of Community Initiatives, funds organizations that provide young people mentorship, employment opportunities, and engagement activities. This year’s grantees will be awarded up to $25,000 for each organization.

“As we enter our fifth year, I am thrilled to announce another incredible opportunity for our community to apply for grant dollars,” said Chief Community Officer, Maurice “Moe” Scott. “These dollars are dedicated to continuing our essential work of empowering our neighborhoods through innovative violence prevention programs, projects, and events. This initiative reflects our steadfast commitment to foster a safer, stronger, and more united community. We encourage all passionate individuals and organizations to participate in this impactful cause. Together, we can build on our progress and create meaningful change for a brighter future.”

Applications for the grant program are live and are being accepted from September 9 through October 14, 2024. Applicants must complete the grant application, which can be found by visiting southbendin.gov/south-bend-alive-grant-program/.

If you need application assistance, please contact the Office of Community Initiatives by emailing alivesb@southbendin.gov or by calling 574-235-9427.
