Today, The City of South Bend launched the Business Security Grant Program, an initiative that will sponsor new technology installations or upgrades in storefronts across the city. Businesses can apply for up to $5,000 of funds for eligible expenses like cameras, cloud storage, or lighting.
“We need the community’s help to keep our neighborhoods safe and vibrant,” said Mayor James Mueller. “I’m excited to partner with our local businesses and take advantage of the latest technology.”
In addition to improving the infrastructure and safety of participating businesses, the Business Security Grant Program also aims to expand partnerships with the South Bend Police Department. Applicants interested in integrating their cameras with the Real Time Crime Center will be prioritized.
If a South Bend business wants to invest in security upgrades, but doesn’t know where to start, they can request a free technical site assessment.
The Business Security Grant Program is funded by American Rescue Plan dollars. The grant deadline is September 29, 2023.
