November 13, 2024 – The City of South Bend invites the public to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, November 19 to learn about an upcoming planning and environmental study to assess the street network and freeway ramps around the Eddy Street/SR 23 bridge over the St. Joseph River. This area, adjacent to the South Bend Farmers Market, is known as the South Bend Market District.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at Howard Park Event Center, located at 219 S. St. Louis Blvd. It will provide attendees with an opportunity to learn more about the study’s scope and share their input on the future of the street network in the Market District.
The study, funded by a federal RAISE (Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity) grant, will follow the federal Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) process that will consider environmental, community and economic conditions as planning concepts are developed.
Over the course of the two-year study, there will be ongoing engagement to ensure the process reflects the needs and goals of South Bend residents and stakeholders.
