City Announces Traffic Alerts Starting Thursday, April 20

April 20, 2023 — The City of South Bend Department of Public Works announces the following traffic alerts beginning Monday, April 24, weather permitting.

Hill Street
Beginning Monday, April 24, Hill Street from Jefferson Boulevard to Washington Street will be closed to reconstruct portions of the street. Motorists will be detoured to St. Louis Boulevard. The street is expected to reopen Monday, May 15, weather permitting.

Mayflower Road
Starting Thursday, April 20, NIPSCO will perform maintenance work on a gas line on Mayflower Road between Dogwood Drive and Belleville Circle. Temporary portable traffic control signals will be placed along Mayflower Road at these locations to maintain two-way traffic. Restrictions will be in place throughout the duration of the project, which has an estimated completion date of Monday, May 8, weather permitting. 

Riverside Drive – California Avenue – Leland Drive Intersection
Also beginning Monday, April 24, the Riverside Drive – California Avenue – Leland Drive intersection will be closed for intersection improvements. The project is expected to be completed by Friday, June 30, weather permitting. Detour routes will be Vassar Avenue and Lafayette Boulevard via Navarre Street and Portage Avenue.
