FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CITY ANNOUNCES START OF 2017 YARD WASTE SEASON The City of South Bend’s Division of Solid Waste is announcing the start of the 2017 yard waste season. The program begins on Monday, April 3, and runs until Thursday, November 30. Yard waste is collected on the same day as trash service. All yard waste is collected curbside; no yard waste is collected in the alley way. For weekly pick-up, all yard waste must be in a city-issued yard waste container. No yard waste will be picked-up in personal containers. Solid Waste offers a once monthly extra pick-up of a cubic yard (10 yard waste bags) of yard waste. Leaves need to be in brown, biodegradable bags. Branches must be no more than 4 inches in diameter, no longer than 4 feet long, and bundled tightly and securely with twine. No plastic of any kind will be accepted. Solid Waste has issued an amnesty month for the month of April. All yard waste extra pick-up’s will be picked up for free. All extra pick-up’s must be within guidelines in order to be picked up. Residents must call 311 to schedule a pick-up. For more information, residents should contact 311.
