Director of Community Investment James Mueller has announced that he will take a leave of absence from the City administration to explore a candidacy for office, effective today.
“This is a critical moment in the City, and I need to give my full attention to this process.” said Mueller. “I’m grateful for our talented team, and know they will continue making progress on all our initiatives across the city during my absence.”
“James Mueller has played a key leadership role in this administration, and I respect his decision to put the City first by temporarily stepping away from his position,” said Mayor Pete Buttigieg. “I have full confidence that the Community Investment team will continue delivering inclusive economic development and empowerment for South Bend residents.”
During Mueller’s absence, the Mayor’s Office will provide policy guidance for the Department of Community Investment.
