After assessing conditions and demand, the City is ending the emergency activation of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Center as a warming center this weekend and returning it to its normal use.
During the period that the Center was made available as a supplemental warming site, the City was advised that no one was turned away from area shelters.
Dangerously cold temperatures will continue in the coming days, and it is important that everyone be indoors. The Center for the Homeless, Project WARM, and Life Treatment Centers will continue to offer weather amnesty, and the City is in close contact with agencies to assess conditions in case further steps are required.
