The City of South Bend’s Engagement and Economic Empowerment (EEE) team has announced the schedule for the 4th year of the Linden Avenue Farmer’s Market, a seasonal nutrition and health-based outreach partnership between local and regional farmers, food vendors, health and wellbeing organizations, and food outreach coordinators committed to addressing the far-reaching implications of food insecurity.
“The EEE team is thrilled to bring the Linden Avenue Farmer’s Market back for its 4th year to bring fresh, healthy, and culturally appropriate food to marginalized, low-income, minority and rural communities in South Bend,” said Director of Engagement and Economic Empowerment Team, Mary McAfee. “We are determined to continue creating healthy food options for communities that have often been overlooked, while also empowering local businesses, entrepreneurs, and farmers.”
Five farmer’s markets will take place on the third Saturday of every month starting in June until October and will feature local food vendors, farmers, a live DJ, and other family-friendly interactive entertainment at the Charles Black Center at the corner of N Falcon and W Washington Street on the following dates:
• Saturday, June 15, 10am-2pm
• Saturday, July 20, 10am-2pm
• Saturday, August 17, 10am-2pm
• Saturday, September 21, 10am-2pm
• Saturday, October 19, 10am-2pm
The City is still seeking food vendors, farmers, information vendors and others to participate in the market. Interested vendors can fill out the application and learn more by southbendin.gov/food-security.
