Per City Ordinance No. 10471-16, the City Clerk has the ability to hold an annual Parking Ticket Amnesty Day at her discretion which forgives late fees associated with parking violations. City Clerk Kareemah Fowler held the first two (2) annual Amnesty Days for parking tickets in the City of South Bend. Building on last year’s success of over six hundred (600) tickets paid, Clerk Fowler is happy to announce the 2019 Amnesty Day will be on Friday, April 26, 2019.
By providing the opportunity for residents to have a fresh start, Clerk Fowler’s Amnesty Program also prevents the future accruement of costly fines, as well as legal and court fees associated with non-payment of parking tickets, which saves residents the time, money, and hassle of potential legal action. The Amnesty Program has saved money for residents and boosted revenue for the City of South Bend mirroring the success of other amnesty programs across the nation.
