Starting Monday, May 4, the initial phase of the Corby-Rockne-Ironwood Intersection Improvement Project will get underway with the closure of Corby Boulevard and Rockne Drive immediately west of Ironwood Drive. The project includes intersection improvements such as upgrades to traffic signals, new asphalt, storm sewers, streetlighting and new curbs and sidewalks to alleviate traffic congestion and improve roadway safety.
Detour routes will be in place 24 hours a day until the work is complete. Traffic will be detoured to Twyckenham Drive via McKinley Avenue or Edison Road. A full closure of the intersection is expected in mid-May as construction progresses.
The $3.1 million bid was awarded to Rieth-Riley Construction Company. Eighty percent of the costs for the project will come through federal funds, with 20 percent covered locally. The anticipated completion date for this project is end of October; however, this schedule is subject to change given the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
