Jo M. Broden is a lifelong resident of South Bend. Work experience includes teaching & social service administrative positions in Washington, D.C. and 17 years as a small business owner. During her 9 year executive tenure with the Alzheimer’s Association Northern Indiana Chapter, she served as a Governor Bayh appointee to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Senile Dementia Task Force. She has served in leadership positions within St. Margaret’s House, Holy Cross Grade School, and Holy Cross Parish. Her affiliations include the League of Women Voter’s High School Voter Registration Project, St. Augustine’s Soup Kitchen, the Michiana Bike Association’s Bike & Helmet Safety Program within the South Bend Community School Corporation, “Get Out the Vote” efforts, and the Northshore Triangle Neighborhood Association.
Councilmember Broden has degrees in American Studies from the University of Notre Dame (1985) and Applied Gerontology from Ball State University (1989). She and husband John E. Broden, are parents of three children. This is her twenty-first year living in the 4th District.
