COUNTY, CITY OFFICES CLOSE DUE TO SNOWFALL
St. Joseph County and the City of South Bend are closing offices at the County-City Building at noon on Wednesday, February 2, due to accumulated and continuing snowfall.
The current plan is for offices to re-open at noon on Thursday, February 3, but those plans are subject to change depending on conditions on the ground on Thursday morning.
“I’m grateful for our Public Works crews and first responders who are working diligently to clear streets and keep us all safe through this storm,” said Mayor James Mueller. “I also want to thank our VPA team for maintaining public spaces where people can take shelter during the storm.”

Venues, Parks and Arts Community Centers will remain open through the day on Wednesday, February 2 to serve as warming sites with the following hours:
• Howard Park Event Center – 219 S. St. Louis Blvd., South Bend, IN 46617, 8am – 9pm
• O’Brien Fitness Center – 312 E. Walter St., South Bend, IN 46614, 5am – 9pm,
• Charles Black Community Center – 3419 W. Washington St., South Bend, IN 46619, 9am – 8pm
• Martin Luther King Jr Community Center – 1522 Linden Ave, South Bend, IN 46628, 9 am – 9 pm
VPA Community Centers will reopen at noon on Thursday, February 3.
The City-funded weather amnesty sites are available for overnight shelter. Center for the Homeless operates one site at its 813 S Michigan St. location, and the other weather amnesty site is operated by Hope Ministries at 510 S. Main St. Hours at both sites are from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
The Hope Ministries-run weather amnesty site at 510 S. Main St. will open for extended hours on Thursday, February 3, remaining open through the morning until 12:15 p.m. and re-opening at 8 p.m.
