The City of South Bend invites community members to help re-envision the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center as part of an $11 million investment in the center and its grounds.
“We hope you’ll join us in developing the future of the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, a longstanding treasure on our westside,” said Mayor James Mueller. “We need the community’s help and ideas to ensure that the renovations and programming are transformative for our city.”
Meticulous Architecture and Design, a diverse and world-class architectural firm, has been retained to design the project.
“As a community we’ve been able to create some very special places over the past several years and this project is positioned to be one of the most impactful,” said Aaron Perri, Executive Director of Venues, Parks and Arts. “All told, one my favorite parts is right now – the planning phase when we get to incorporate people’s hopes and ideas.”
The City will host three public engagement sessions at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center, 1522 Linden Ave., on:
- January 10 at 6 p.m.
- February 10 at 6 p.m.
- March 10th at 6 p.m.
Masks will be strongly encouraged for attendees to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Residents can also attend the engagement sessions in person on the same time and dates at the link https://tinyurl.com/SBDreamMeeting.
