On Monday, January 14, Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced the launch of South Bend Home Repair, an initiative that connects neighbors with opportunities for assistance on home repairs.
The South Bend Home Repair brand unites three City programs: Love Your Block (operated by Community Investment in partnership with Cities of Service), South Bend Green Corps (an AmeriCorps program housed in the Sustainability Office), and the South Bend/UEA Pilot Home Repair program (operated by Community Investment).
Eligible repairs range from small fixes like broken doorbells, poorly sealed windows, and dripping faucets to major repairs like roof replacements, electrical rewiring, and water heaters. Some income and residence guidelines may apply for specific programs. Renters may qualify for some programs with permission of the homeowner.
Residents can call 311 to apply. Staff will use information provided by residents to connect prospective applicants to the appropriate program. Visit southbendin.gov/southbendhomerepair for more information.
