The City of South Bend is reopening its Organic Resources facility to the public on Wednesday, April 29. The facility was temporarily closed to the public as a non-essential service, but the restriction has been lifted after Governor Holcomb recently revised his order for garden centers and related businesses.
City employees at the facility will follow all recommended safety practices from the CDC, including social distancing, using face coverings and sanitizing their office spaces regularly. The public will not be allowed inside the building; however, disposal fees can be paid through a drive-thru style window at the facility.
Residents and businesses can drop off yard waste for a nominal fee at the facility, located at 4340 Trade Drive. Mulch and compost is also available free of charge if self-loading or for a fee if assistance is needed.
Organic Resources is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The office is closed from 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. daily. No loading or dumping is allowed when the office is closed.
