March 9, 2023 — Starting Monday, March 13, the intersection at Campeau and Frances streets will close as work begins on the Campeau Street Streetscape Project. Improvements planned for Campeau Street from Frances Street to Notre Dame Avenue include new curbs, sidewalks, bumpouts, pavement, storm sewers and streetlights. A multipurpose path will also be constructed along the north side of Campeau Street with a raised crosswalk at Frances Street. Notre Dame Avenue at Campeau Street/South Bend Avenue will become a raised, four-way stop intersection.
During construction, there will be two phases of street closures:
• Phase I: The intersection at Campeau and Frances streets will be closed from March 13 to mid-May, weather permitting. Frances Street and South Bend Avenue, north of Campeau Street, will also close to through traffic during this time frame.
• Phase 2: The intersection of Campeau Street/South Bend Avenue and Notre Dame Avenue will be closed mid-May to mid-July. (Exact dates of the closures will be announced at a later date.)
Detour routes will be Howard and Cedar streets via Eddy Street/State Route 23. The anticipated completion date of the project is mid-July, weather permitting.
