South Bend Venues Parks & Arts (SBVPA) is seeking submissions for our sculptural art pieces to be placed through Howard Park. Submissions should be completed pieces of art that artists would loan to SBVPA for two years to be displayed year-round.
“This is a great opportunity for us to recognize the incredible local artists we have in South Bend,” said SBVPA Executive Director, Aaron Perri. “There’s also a great need to highlight the importance of art within our parks, and this is one way we’re filling that gap.”
Concepts should evoke elements that speak to SBVPA’s guiding principle of “surprise and delight”, meaning original, creative and dynamic. Artwork requirements and selection criteria, along with details about the installation can be found at sbvpa.org.
South Bend’s Howard Park is located in the East Bank Village in downtown South Bend along the St. Joseph Riverfront. The new park includes a state-of-the-art playground, ice trail and pond with features found nowhere else in the world, riverfront access, trail connectivity to other downtown destinations and parks, ADA accessible paths and plaza space, event center and restaurant space, firepits, beautiful landscaping, and space for public art.
