Mayor Pete Buttigieg has named Genevieve Miller as Deputy Chief of Staff for the City of South Bend Mayor’s Office. Miller joins the Mayor’s Office from the Business Analytics team in the Department of Innovation & Technology. She previously led the City’s Bloomberg Mayors Challenge team, distinguishing South Bend as one of nine cities to win $1 million for an innovative data-driven solution to address transportation as a barrier to stable employment.
Miller graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.S. in Environmental Science and an M.S. in Engineering, Science & Technology Entrepreneurship. As a U.S. Fulbright Scholar, Miller graduated from the University of Gastronomic Sciences with a Master in Gastronomy. Miller serves as a board member of the Purple Porch Co-op, and previously served as a member of the City of South Bend Health & Public Safety Common Council Standing Committee. She will start the position on March 25.
“Genevieve Miller has shown herself to be a talented colleague in her work for the City and she will serve the community well in this new role with my office,” said Mayor Buttigieg. “Her experience and innovative thinking will help us deliver on key priorities this year, and I’m looking forward to working with her.”
“I am honored to be joining the Mayor’s Office team,” said Miller. “I am excited to build upon the culture of equitable and data-driven decision-making and to support departments as they deliver services for residents.”
