Mayor Pete Buttigieg has announced his next appointment to the South Bend Board of Public Safety. Melissa Colpitts will fill the empty position on the board, becoming the fifth member.
Colpitts currently serves as the Human Resources Generalist and Benefits Coordinator for the City of South Bend. She is a graduate of Bethel University, where she studied business management and human resources. She has been involved with Hannah’s House, Take 10 at South Bend Public Schools, and Junior Achievement. She also served on the Women in Leadership Board in 2017 and 2018.
“Melissa Colpitts will be an excellent addition to the Board of Public Safety,” said Mayor Buttigieg. “Her voice will bring valued perspective to Board, and I look forward to her leadership in this important community position.”
“I am thrilled and grateful to have been given this opportunity,” said Colpitts. “As a lifelong resident, South Bend holds a very special place in my heart. I look forward to working with the rest of the Board as we work to deliver leadership and transparency to public safety in this community.”
