The South Bend Board of Public Safety will hold the next Community Action Group Meeting on Thursday, November 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at South Bend City Church. This session, the eighth in the series, will focus on understanding the Board of Public Safety and the South Bend Police Department disciplinary process. All South Bend residents are encouraged to attend.
In August, the Board of Public Safety kicked off the first Community Action Group meetings. The goal of these meetings was to encourage public input on policing policies and procedures. Topics covered in past sessions have included the body worn camera policy, use of force policy, vehicle pursuit policy, training protocols, and recruiting practices. Community recommendations from the first set of meetings was submitted to the Board of Public Safety on Wednesday, October 16 for review and possible implementation.
