City Announces Traffic Alerts for Wednesday, June 19
The City of South Bend Department of Public Works announces the following traffic alerts beginning Wednesday, June 19.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (MLK Jr. Blvd.), from Colfax Avenue to Jefferson Boulevard, will close to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The closure will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Detour routes will be MLK Jr. Blvd. to Colfax Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard via Michigan Street.
Two projects will occur during this closure:
1.) Signage for the Century Center will be installed on the north side of the Sky Bridge.
2.) Signage and yield line pavement markings will be installed for the crosswalk on MLK Jr. Blvd. between the Courtyard by Marriott and the Century Center.
The northbound lanes of Michigan Street, directly north of the Bartlett Street roundabout, will be restricted to one lane. The lane restriction will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday and will go through Thursday, June 27, weather permitting. Crews will be installing a new well at the City’s Water Works Pumping Station.
